May 23, an Il-62 airliner of the Russian
Ministry for Emergencies brought 53 Kosovo Circassians to the city of Mineralnye Vody on
Sunday who will live now in their historical homeland - Adygheya.
The plane brought settlers from Sofia
where they had come by bus from Yugoslavia on Saturday.
That was the end of the operation by the
Ministry for Emergencies to resettle Circassians who lived in Yugoslavia to their
historical homeland.
The matter in question is implementation
of a Russian government decision of 1998 on appropriate measures of state support for
resettling Circassians from the Kosovo autonomous province to Adygheya.
As many as 112 people moved to their new
homeland last August. The new village of Mafakhabl (Lucky Settlements) is going up for
them five kilometers away from the southern city of Maikop.
All the newcomers will receive a plot of
land and will be preoccupied with their usual business as in Kosovo - land farming.
